Guest lecture at UOM by Infosys Experts

We had a guest lecture on Software Processes and Practices as used in the Software Industry at the University of Mauritius on Friday 6th April 2007, delivered by experts from Infosys Technlogies Limited, Mauritius. Mr Vinod Wakade, Operations Incharge, Infosys Mauritius was also present and has shared views and experiences with the UOM Computer Science and Information Systems students.

The Guest lecture was delivered by Mr Jimut Basa, Project Manager at Infosys Mauritius, who has more than 7 years of experience in Software Development for European Clients (UK, Switzerland, Belgium and Netherland). His presentation was mainly geared towards software engineering practices in the software industry including requirements engineering, estimation, quality management, knowledge management, and global delivery model.  He has given an industry view of the different concepts and techniques discuss in the Software Engineering modules.

The presentation was followed by a few questions from UOM academics and students. Both Mr Vinod Wakade and Mr Jimut Basa was of the opinion that qualities required in order to work for Infosys is mainly analytical, problem solving, and good behavioural skills. They also commented that UOM graduates are doing very well at Infosys.

Flag Raising at UOM

Flag-raising Ceremony at University of Mauritius on Friday 09 March 2007 at 1300 hours in the Raised Plaza, Academic Complex Tower Block.

Mauritius attained independence on the 12th March 1968 and on the date of the year 1992 became a Republic
