MPhil and PhD degree supervision

I am currently supervising MPhil and PhD degree projects at the University of Mauritius in the areas of Mobile Computing, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), Context-Aware Systems and Social Computing.

I am particularly interested in the implementation of the following projects:

  • Agricultural and Environmental Sensor Networks
  • Context-Aware Systems for Visually Impaired Persons
  • Pervasive and Mobile Health Systems
  • Mobile Disaster Management Systems
  • Social Media Analytics
  • Privacy issues in Online Social Networks

Guest Lecture at Charles Telfair Institute (DCDM Business School)

I was invited to deliver a guest lecture on “Experimentation in Computer Science and Software Engineering” at the Charles Telfair Institute (formerly DCDM Business School) to some BSc Computer Science level 3 students on Wednesday 16 May 2007. The guest lecture included the following discussions:

  • Nature of Computing
  • Why experiment?
  • Methods of expriementation
  • Computer Science Research and experimentation

  • context-aware computing,
  • mobile ad-hoc networks,
  • mobile and ubiquitous computing and
  • wireless sensor networks.

I am a member of the Context-Awareness Research Group (CARG) at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Mauritius
