Qualifications:     B.Eng(Hons) Computer Science and Engineering (First Class), PhD in Computer Science

I am an Associate Professor in the field of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Mauritius. My research interests are directed toward wireless sensor networks, Context-awareness, mobile computing, and ubiquitous computing.

I joined the University of Mauritius in 2003 as Lecturer and based on my research output, I was first promoted to the Senior Lecturer grade (2006) then to the Associate Professor grade (2010). Moreover, in recognition of the research works carried out, I was awarded the UoM Research Excellence Award . I was also awarded the ICT Personality of the Year 2013 (Runner Up) by the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology. This Award is conferred to an individual that has demonstrated exemplary growth and performance in the ICT industry in the year 2013 in Mauritius. I have presented 9 refereed research papers in prestigious international ICT conferences and published 20 refereed research papers in high impact international ICT journals.

Research Activities

The main objective of the my research is to use of ICT to solve problems of national interest. I am currently involved in research activities in the following areas:

  • next generation middleware technologies,
  • context-aware computing,
  • mobile ad-hoc networks,
  • mobile and ubiquitous computing and
  • wireless sensor networks.

Supervising MPhil and PhD degree in the above areas. I am a member of the Context-Awareness Research Group (CARG) at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Mauritius. Currently in the process of setting up a research group in the area of Environmental Sensor Networks.
